The Rural Electrification Agency ( REA ) is the secretariat of the Rural Electrification Board (HEB) established by statutory instrument 2001 No. 75. REA is mandated to implement Governments rural electrification programs. The Government oi Uganda through HLA is implementing a number of electricity connection projects with financial support from development partners to meet national electricity access targets.
REA therefore seeks to strengthen its capacity in the management of electricity connection projects.
POSITION: CONNECTIONS PROJECT OFFICER who will report to the Principal Connections Officer (POO) while performing their responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate connection activities of the Electricity Service Providers and manage consultancies in the allocated Service Territories.
- Support preparation of projects to accelerate connections.
- Prepare project monthly, quarterly and annual work plans, monitoring plans and budgets.
- Oversee the implementation of connection projects by Service Providers and prepare progress reports.
- Carry-out desk and physical monitoring of connection projects in Service Territories to ensure compliance with project requirements.
- identify any challenges by SPs and support them to meet set targets.
- Collect connection data, update database and analyze information to establish connection trends and advise on the necessary interventions.
- Work with the GIS unit to maintain an up-to-date
- Provide support on inventory and finance management for connection materials.
- Assist in carrying out project awareness and mobilization activities.
- Carry out any other relevant activities assigned by the supervisor.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Management and Statistics
- 5 years practical working experience in project management and monitoring of project in a reputable organization.
- Experience working with donor funded projects
- A Post-Graduate qualification in project Management or Monitoring will be an added advantage.
- Not more than 35 years of age.
- Six (6) months probationary period
- Four (4) years contract
