The Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC) IS Uganda’s leading economics research institution. its mandate is to provide research and other forms of analytical support to Uganda’s development process. EPRC uses resources from Government of Uganda and Think Tank Initiative (TTI) under the International Development Research Centre (IDRC). The Centre is searching for qualified, experienced persons with sound professional integrity to fill the positions indicated below.
Job Title: Senior Research Fellow – Microeconomics
Reports to: Principal Research Follow
Age limit: 35- 55 years
Main Duties
  • Undertake empirical analysis of microeconomic issues
  • Contribute to resource mobilization and engage in commissioned work for and on behalf of the Centre
  • Based on research findings and sound analysis, contribute to national policy discourse
    - Mentor and coach Research Analysts
    - Assist the Principle Research Fellow in advising the Executive Director and Senior Management Team on socio
    - economic, and sustainable development issues in Uganda.
Requirements tor the position:
- Hold at least a PhD in Economics, Agricultural Economics, ‘ Development Economics or other economics related field (by coursework and research) from a reputable University;
- Publication record in international peer reviewed journals, or proven record of publications of reports, working papers and books, among others;
- Comprehensive knowledge of, and ability to apply modern micro-economic theory and methods;
- Strong knowledge and background in the use of statistical and econometric methods and packages in development economics and microeconomics research; theoretical knowledge to develop and implement research programs;
- Competence in the use of the leading econometric software (e.g. STATA, E-Views) for data analysis;
- Proven ability in development policy research and analysis of economic conditions. A minimum of eight (8) years working experience in relevant reputable public or private sector institutions three of which should be in policy
- oriented work; ‘
- A strong drive for results, an ability to carry out swiftly and efficiently numerous competing demands‘, and capable of managing competing priorities
- Excellent record of proposal writing and raising funds for policy-related research;
- Proven ability to build and lead a team of motivated staff, and utilize the talents and expertise oi team members in a productive way as well as capacity to initiate and manage innovation and change; Professional experience of working in reputable research or academic institutions;
- Ability to make presentations, engage in public speaking; and
- intellectual and personal integrity.
