LWF Uganda currently has five areas of operation in Pader, Kitgum, Adjumani, Katakwi, Sembabule, Kampala and Kamwenge Districts.
Job Summary: The Community Services Officer is responsible for monitoring and supporting all community-based activities, including all stages of the mapping exercise and oversight and coordination of the Community Facilitators. The PO will work closely with other unit staff to improve the proper operations and management of Community Services in the refugee camps.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The ideal candidate for the Lutheran World Relief (LWR) Community Services Officer career opportunity should hold a University degree in Social Science, Community Development or Development Studies. Possession of a Master’s degree will be an added advantage. Possession of a postgraduate qualification in public health or project management is an added advantage
  • Three to four years of hands-on experience working with community - driven/led programming within an INGO setting in human rights, gender issues, with refugees or other vulnerable populations;
  •  Proven experience in strategic development and program design, planning, implementation, monitoring & evaluation;
  •  Proven skills and experience in participatory community development work;
  • Maturity and discretion, ability to work with and maintain confidential information;
  •  Proven training expertise on human rights and protection mainstreaming;
  •  Ability to work effectively with a team, teaching and learning from team members;
  • Excellent communication skills and fluency in written and spoken English essential;
  • Excellent report writing skills is a must
  •  Previous experience of working in research or implementation of community health and/or diagnostics projects;
  • Experience of managing a field office
  • Previous experience of working in field areas;
  • Good project management skills;
  • Good analytical and reporting skills;
  •  Good supervision skills;
  •  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Strong ability to be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks;
  • Previous experience in training and conducting workshops;
  • Working knowledge of INGO’s work, and representational skills.
  •  Having knowledge of project audit and financial audit
