The main responsibilities of the position are as follows-
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design emergency preparedness and response SOP, plan, guideline and framework for country programme considering BRAC International plan, strategies, focus and humanitarian standards & principles.
- Carry out country risk assessment for designing DRR and Emergency Response strategies and implementation of plans considering humanitarian standards & principles.
- Design, promote, and facilitate capacity development of country programme, local governments, communities and schools to address emergency preparedness and response considering internationally accepted standards & principles.
- Support team to develop emergency preparedness and responses plan for local governments, communities and schools by considering country situation/crisis and internationally accepted standards & principles.
- Regularly monitor country safety and security situation, provide necessary emergency support and engage in post disaster need assessment considering humanitarian standards and principles
- Develop concept note/proposal, budget, situation reports, action plans and presentations for various donors and stakeholders by following requirements and guidelines.
- Coordinate and follow up country programmes to ensure technical inputs by integrating DRR and Emergency Response for preparing concept notes, proposals, reports and presentations.
- Build and maintain strong collaborative and networking partnerships with key stakeholders and community partners for resource mobilization and involvement in DRR, Emergency Response and Climate Change Adaptation activities.
- Monitor and track the progress/milestones against planned activities.
- Promote and facilitate BRAC International humanitarian branding at regional and global level
- The ideal candidate for the BRAC International Emergency Preparedness and Response Coordinator should hold a Graduate/Master’s Degree in Social Science/ Development Studies / Disaster Management/ Geography and Environment or other comparative university degree.
- Three years of relevant experience in Emergency Response and Disaster Risk Reduction of NGOs/development sectors.
- Previous experience with different aspects of project management including development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and supervision of environmental experts.
- Experience in developing proposals, budget, situation reports, action plans, brief notes and presentations.
- Excellent communication skills (written, reading and spoken) in English and local language;
- Excellent analytical and ICT skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to lead and gain assistance and cooperation of others in a team endeavor;
- Ability to access and analyse key issues in the humanitarian situation and formulate actions around them;
- Experience in ensuring efficient and transparent use of resources in accordance with internal controls;
- Establish community engagement mechanisms
- Demonstrate an understanding of wider UN/NGO security coordination and how your organisation can benefit from, and contribute to, those mechanisms;
- Proven ability to collaborate with colleagues to achieve organizational goals
- Experience in the development of an organisational response based on an understanding of the contexts;
- Skilled in undertaking effective risk assessments with communities and partners;
- Maintain simultaneously a broad strategic perspective and awareness of the detail of a situation;
- Foster collaborative, transparent and accountable relationships through partners to formalise and operationalize partnering agreements;
- Adapt plans quickly in response to emerging situations and changing environments;
- Actively engage in disaster coordination mechanisms and interagency cooperation from an understanding of your agency’s perspective and approach;
- Substantive technically focused experience in one or more of the following subject areas: emergency response, disaster risk management, community engagement/risk assessment with participatory skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
- Excellent interpersonal skills demonstrated by the ability to lead and gain assistance and cooperation of others in a team endeavour
- Skills on self-awareness, cultural sensitivity, flexibility and adaptability, resilience
- Proven ability to work under pressure and to use limited resources effectively, conducting risk analysis and applying contingency measures to adjust plans and resources effectively
