Organization: Makerere University/ Uganda Virus Research Institute Centre of Excellence in infection & Immunity Research and Training (MUll-plus). Established in 2008, the Makerere University/ UVRI infection and Immunity Research Training Programme (MUII; www.muii.org.ug) aims to bring the premier research University (Makerere University) together with the premier health research institute (the Uganda Virus Research Institute) in Uganda, to help train health researchers in the 21st Century. Over the period 2016-2020, MUll-plus is working to transition to a Centre of Excellence, providing support and opportunities not only for trainees, but for all scientists in Uganda interested in the field of infection and immunity.
The Centre, which is based at the Uganda Virus Research institute (UVRI), and collaborates with the Makerere University Colleges of Health Sciences (CH8), Natural Sciences (CoNAS) and Veterinary Medicine, Animal Health and Biosecurity (CoVAB) as well as the Infectious Diseases Institute, is seeking to fill the position of Centre Manager. The duty station for this position is UVRI, Entebbe.

Job Summary:
A dynamic Masters graduate, the Centre Manager will support the Director to manage and deliver the objectives of the Centre, to foster partnership between the Centre institutions, to support fellows and members and, to supervise the administrative team. He/ she will lead the monitoring, evaluation and learning function of the centre.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Master’s degree in Public Health or Administration Project Planning and Management ideally with some science background, and keen to develop a career in research management
- Training in Monitoring and Evaluation is an added advantage
- Four or more year’s relevant experience in a position of project management coordination / monitoring and evaluation.
- Passion for the development of science research in Uganda
- Broad knowledge and understanding of research responsibilities and conduct
- Ability to organize, manage time, set goals and motivate staff .
- Personal integrity, ability to learn, flexibility and concern for excellence.
