Job Summary: The Finance Manager will oversee business-facing aspects of the operation’s finances, including accounting, financial reporting, forecasting and auditing as well as provide management information to the business for strategic decision-making.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Deliver information required for monthly, quarterly and annual financial requirements
- Identifies key financial risks for the operation and communicates to Country GM and Central FC with proposed solutions.
- Focus on cost containment for the department, monitoring, identifying, addressing variance vs. budgets and forecasts •
- Pro-actively work towards increasing efficiency, and improving quality and speed of delivery of financial information
- Reviews, monitors, identifies and addresses variances of actual to the budget on a quarterly basis
- Processes and/or oversees the processing of financial/business forms
Checks, corrects and maintains a variety of financial and other business records and documents. - Answers inquiries and provides information to staff and the public on financial policies and procedures.
- Prepares or assists in preparing various financial or administrative reports.
- Approves and processes requisitions for supplies and equipment.
- May initiate new procedures in accounting/business systems
- Actively contributes to unit goals by accomplishing related duties as required. •
- Country budget forecasting and allocation •
- Coordinating debt collection by alerting the relevant people on due dates and making sure invoicing is done accordingly
- Spearheading the annual audit after every financial year
- Ensure there is compliance on all statutory requirements in finance docket e.g payroll, VAT, advance tax, NSSF etc.
- Prepare monthly analysis of cost of sales and operational expenses against prior year and budget, providing explanations and business solutions to help mitigate financial risks. • Partner with Corporate and Teams in determining the financial impact of business decisions, e.g. product cost reductions, new product roll out, etc. and prepare periodic forecasts to update management on projected results.
- Manage banking relationships
- Identify, investigate, and analyse potential operational improvement.
- As appropriate, based on findings make proposal for operational changes (policy, procedures, processes, etc.)
- Ensure maintenance of proper books of accounts in accordance with standard accounting practices
- Manage dealer accounts
- Ensure compliance with all in country financial standard and regulations
- Manage the Credit Control function.
- Manage external audit relationships
- The ideal candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and Accounting, Statistics, Business Administration and Business Computing.
- Possession of a Master’s degree in Financial Management or its equivalent is an added advantage
- Professional qualifications i.e. ACCA/CPA
- Five to seven years of related financial experience required
- Previous experience in the media industry advantageous
- Previous experience in Systems of Accounting and finance
- Experience in managing Processes, developing standards, Promoting Process Improvement and Inventory Control
