About Sunrise Centre
Sunrise Center is as a grass-roots Community Based Organization established in 2004 with the goal of improving the lives of disadvantaged children and families by addressing the educational, nutritional and health needs of rural communities.
Buiga Sunrise School is the educational component of Sunrise Centre and serves 250 children per year. The school is composed of:

  • A preschool & kindergarten
  • A primary section
  • Vocational training classes to impart valuable life skills
  • Community library & computer literacy classes
Grace Family Health Centre and Birth House is the medical component of Sunrise Centre. The clinic provides medical services to more than 400 people per month including free or low cost:

  • Prenatal, maternity and postnatal care
  • Immunizations
  • Family planning service
  • Medical consultations
  • Quality assured medications
  • Emergency transport
Role Overview
Sunrise Centre is looking for a dynamic individual to manage strategic development and implementation of program activities with efficiency and professionalism to ensure ongoing success of the organization. Additionally the operations manager will be responsible for engaging donors and securing funding in cooperation with and under the supervision of, the Managing Director, an International Board and a locally elected Community Committee.
Duties

  • program development in accordance with the Sunrise mission and values
  • networking and partnering with potential funders within Uganda
  • working in cooperation with the Director and grant writer to secure funding
  • local fundraising
  • social media & monthly newsletters
  • sponsor communication
  • team building and supervision
  • goal setting, follow-up, statistics & measurable results
  • budgets & accountability
  • registration and complying with all Ministry requirements
  • filing necessary file work to maintain international non-profit status
  • annual tax receipts to donors
  • reporting to grant providers, the Director, and the International Board

Skills and Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years experience in a management/leadership position (with international NGO is an asset)
  • A relevant degree in development studies, management, administration, social sciences or related field
  • Exceptional representational, networking and donor engagement skills - ability to create and sustain long term partnerships with other development agencies
  • Ability to work within budget parameters and deliver measurable results
  • Very strong leadership qualities with the ability to think strategically and work creatively in an innovative manner
  • Thorough understanding of project management, organizational assessment and program development
  • Proven experience in securing external funding and grants, proposal development and local fundraising
  • Excellent monitoring, writing and communication skills, including proven report writing skills
  • Strong background in organizational capacity building
  • Practical experience gained within an NGO context and exemplary past performance records
