Established in 1988, the MRC/UVRI and LSHTM Uganda Research Unit is an internationally recognized Center of excellence for research on HIV infection and related diseases, contributing knowledge on the evolving epidemic, the evaluation of innovative health care options, treatment and prevention, and the development of health policy and practice in Africa and worldwide, The Unit's head offices are located at the Uganda Virus Research lnstitute- Entebbe Campus, and the main research activities in Masaka, Kalungu, Kampala and Wakiso districts, including the peri-urban areas of Entebbe.
Role Position: 2 Scientist B-GPC (Mengo & Kyamulibwa)
Reporting to: Programme Head (HIV and Cancer Epidemiology)
The holder of the position will offer scientific leadership and ensure timely and credible execution of project activities.
Some Key Responsibilities: 1. Coordinate studies including development of protocols, SOPs, preparing and maintaining Site investigator file to ensure timely and accurate data collection. 2. Make scientific contributions through grant applications, publications, proposal reviews, conference abstracts, seminar presentations and site journal clubs. Check out the website for details

Required Qualification, Experience and Competencies:
- A Medical Degree or relevant degree in statistics, demography, public health or social science.
- Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Statistics or Public Health is of an added advantage.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Clinical research setting.
- Experience at a supervisory level preferably medical staff.
- Having evidence of contributing to high impact peer-reviewed publications in health related research is of an added advantage
