Post: Humanitarian Programme Officer: Kampala with travels mainly within Uganda (25-30%)
DCA is looking for a suitable professional to fill the position of Humanitarian Programme Officer.
The main function of the Humanitarian Programme Officer (HPOJ is to ensure the implementation of timely and high quality humanitarian response in close cooperation with the DCA humanitarian project team and NGO partners. The Humanitarian Programme Officer will report to Head of Programmes (HoP) DCA's Uganda Programme:
DanChurchAid (DCA) is an international NGO and has supported development and humanitarian programmes in Uganda for almost 40 years. DCA works in partnership with local partners as well as undertakes direct implementation. DCA is a member of the ACT Alliance. Main tasks and responsibilities of the Humanitarian Programme Officer will be:
Under the direction and daily task management of the Head of Programmes (HoP), the Humanitarian Programme Officer will be responsible for:
  • Monitoring, reporting and documenting project results including lessons learnt.
  • Ensuring close cooperation and exchange of information within DCA and the ACT Alliance, incl. participation in cluster/sector meetings and collaboration on appeals and other joint humanitarian responses
  • Assisting in project and proposal development, as well as preparation and implementation of reviews and evaluations of humanitarian projects
  • Grants management including financial project budget monitoring and accountability
  • Min 5 years’ experience from a similar position in emergency and humanitarian response work
  • A university degree in humanitarian response or other related discipline,
  • Extensive experience with grants management
  • Knowledge of-Sphere Standards and Core Humanitarian Standards
  • Knowledge and work experience from livelihoods and cash transfer programming
  • Experience with mobile monitoring technology an advantage
  • Experience with mainstreaming protection, gender equality, and applying a rights based approach.
  •  Outgoing, results-oriented and proactive with good liaison and coordination skills
Additional information:
Duration of the position: The position is a 2-year contract with possibility of extension. Terms and conditions are according to the Staff Manual for DCA Great Lakes Regional Office.
