Post: Value Chain Project Manager: Kampala with travels mainly within Uganda (30-50%)
DCA is looking for a suitable professional to fill the position of value Chain Project Manager.
The Value Chain Project Manager (PM) will be overseeing a new 5 year project implemented together with Ugandan and Danish Companies, and funded by Danida Market Development Partnerships.
The project has two objectives: 1) to improve livelihoods through decent employment for refugees and host communities, especially women and unemployed youth, creating jobs in the fresh fruit value chain; and 2) to boost local market development through efficient and responsible supply chains for organically certified fresh fruits to ready to—sell export markets, including in Denmark, through a sustainable out-grower model.

DanChurchAid (DCA) is an international NGO and has supported development and humanitarian programmes in Uganda for almost 40 years. DCA works in partnership with local partners as well as undertakes direct implementation. DCA is a member of the ACT Alliance. Our key thematic areas and competencies in Uganda are livelihoods and food security, humanitarian response, and civil society development. Main tasks and responsibilities of the Value Chain Project Manager will be:
Under the direction and daily task management of the Head of Programmes (HoP) the Value Chain Project Manager will:
- Ensure effective and participatory project management (planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation. learning)
- Ensure close coordination and communication with all project consortia members
- Ensure timely reporting according to donor requirements
- Ensure documentation and visibility of the project and its results
- Network and ensure relationship building with external stakeholders
- Undertake field visits for Field Visit and Field Report:
- Be overall responsible for implementation approaches and quality of the project
- Ensure timely and efficient budget management, financial accounting and accountability
- Master in Agriculture, Business Development or related held.
- 8 years of Pf8CTlC8| experience of managing value chain and agribusiness projects
- Good track record in leading and coordinating international multi-stakeholder teams
- Extensive experience and knowledge of value chain development for export, agro business, market facilitation, supporting systemic change
- Experience on working with farmers to produce fruit in Uganda
- Practical experience in working with small and medium sized companies and private sector
- Knowledge of and application of UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
- Experience of digital financial solutions and using mobile technology is an advantage
- Experience working with Danish companies and managing Danida grants is an Advantage

Duration of the position: The position is a 5-year contract. Terms and conditions are according to the Staff Manual for DCA Great Lakes Regional Office.
