JOB DETAILS:
AIRD Uganda is a non-governmental, non-political, non-religious and non-profit making international NGO. AIRD is currently working in 9 African countries in East, Central and West Africa.
AIRD’s objectives is to offer operational support, including but not limited to; supply chain, logistics, construction, infrastructure, environment, livelihoods and WAH in partnership with relief and development organisations which focus on disaster-affected and development oriented areas.
AIRD is seeking for qualified personnel (internal and external) to fill the position to be implemented in 2018:
Job Title : Back up Operator
Location: Field settlements
Report to: Mechanical engineer/civil engineer
Responsible For: Operating Project heavy machines including buldozers, wheel loader, compactor and grader
Job Summary: Operating tractor and various types of equipment to maintain gravel roads.
Job Qualifications:
  • Uganda Certificate of Education
  • Road equipment operator training certificate is an added advantage.
  • Valid Driving license class H.
    Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ Experience with road construction industry.
  • 2 to 3 years progressive experience operating heavy machines.
  • Knowledge of roller operation and heavy equipment.
  • Knowledge of road construction materials, processes and requirements.
  • understanding of grades and interpret roadway plans and drawings.

  • Ability to work in an outdoor setting including inclement weather, heat, humidity and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
