JOB DETAILS:
Job brief:
The Media relations Officer will be responsible for overseeing communication to media, including preparing communication content ie articles, press kits. The officer cultivates and manages relationships with media representatives.
Key responsibilities.

Brand promotion:

  • Advertising and Public Relations.
  • Identify appropriate media channels for advertisement and spot media promotions opportunities.
  • Identify communication gaps and propose solutions.
  • Create Communication Content ie articles and press releases for the media to various media contacts and ensure effective distribution of such content.
  • Produce background briefing and prepare spokespeople for interviews and talk shows.

Media Audit.

  • Track progress of Media contracts and compliance.
  • Monitor media coverage.
  • Make regular media surveys to assess communication needs, effectiveness and media campaign success rates.

Media Channels Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong media relationships to ensure leverage.
  • Attend press conferences and media interviews.
  • Maintaining media database with key media contacts and co-ordinate incoming
SKILLS

  • A degree in Public relations, Media management, Mass Communication , Journalism or other related subject.
  • Proven experience of 2+ years in PR and media management from any reputable organisation.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Good computer skills ie Ms. Office package
  • Ability to manage big workload with strong organisation skills.
  • Active team member and can work under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Excellent knowledge of national and regional media
  • Highly creative and passionate about work
