Saferworld is an independent non-governmental organisation that works to prevent violent conflict and build safer lives. We work with civil society, governments and international organisations to encourage and support effective policies and practices through advocacy, research and policy development, and through supporting the actions of others.
Saferworld has been working on conflict prevention issues in South Sudan since 2002 and established an office in Juba in 2007. With partners we now work in eight states across South Sudan, where we work with community members, civil society, local authorities and ‘hard to reach’ groups such as women, young people, and non-state security providers. Together, we identify and address safety and peace-building needs that are specific to the different communities. Our work in South Sudan is currently funded by the Netherlands and UK Governments plus the UN.
The post-holder will manage the compliance process of Safeworld’s South Sudan grants from respective donors, including ensuring systems, processes and workflows are in place, and delivering high quality and timely reporting.
The person we are looking for will have proven experience of project and budget management and of developing and maintaining systematic and transparent records in order to keep track of projects and for accountability and auditing. S/he will be fluent in English with excellent writing skills, including report writing. A good understanding of South Sudan and peace building will be a distinct advantage. The preference is for this post to be based in Juba, South Sudan but Nairobi or Kampala will be considered as alternative for the right candidate.
