POSITION OF Laboratory Quality Assurance Officer AT UVRI ZOONOTIC DISEASES SURVEILLANCE PROGRAMME LABORATORIES
The Department of Arbovirology, Emerging and Re-Emerging infectious Diseases (DEARID) at Uganda Virus Research Institute, Entebbe, Uganda, serves as a national, regional and international reference center for zoonotic infectious diseases. The Departments goal is combating emergence of diseases through quick and proper detection, diagnosis, and sustained control of infections at source, to save lives and avert spread of infections. The Department conducts field and laboratory surveillance, diagnostics, research, and control of infections. The Department seeks a Laboratory Quality Officer the Arbovirus, Viral Hemorrhagic Fever, Plague and influenza laboratories (the UVRI Zoonotics laboratory). The Laboratory Quality Officer will work under the Head of Department, together with other laboratory Managers to ensure the Departments vision, mission, values, strategic plan, work plans, work products and services are in line with the institute’s and partners strategies, goals and objectives.
Laboratory Quality Assurance Officer
Defines, implements and monitors standards’ of performance in quality control and quantity” improvement by ensuring that laboratory testing systems provide quality laboratory services for pre- analytical, analytical and post analytical phases of testing. Maintains and ensures that the high quality specimens are received and maintained to the same level of quality through their entire life span within the laboratory. Ensures existence of a safe and secure work environment to both technical and support staff and the immediate surrounding’. by ensuring availability and use of appropriate personal protective equipment, timely servicing of equipment, and state disposal of laboratory waste. Accurately collates and maintains tiles and records for the UVRI Zoonotic laboratories. Files are to include personnel tiles, quality assurance data, accreditation information, meeting summaries and minutes. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating activities required to achieve and maintain accreditation.
Required Qualification:
Bachelor of Sciences, MSG, and a certiļ¬cate in accreditation will be an added advantage.

- An understanding and appreciation of other people's work disciplines,
- Knowledge or methodologies of quality assurance and standards.
- Proven experience as quality Manager or relevant role.
- Reliable and trustworthy.
