Uganda Clays Limited is Uganda's leading manufacturer of quality building products located at Kajjansi, 14 Kilometers along Kampala-Entebbe Road with a second factory at Kamonkoli in Mbale. The company seeks to recruit competent and dynamic individuals of high integrity to fill the following position:
Post: Research and Development Officer
Job Purpose:
To work together with the quality, marketing and production teams in planning, initiating product development strategies, testing and application finished products, improving on already existing products and research on clay products to come with new product design that meets the customer requirements.
Key responsibilities:
- To initiate product development strategies to meet customers’ demands.
- Taking lead in improving on existing designs.
- Developing and initiating application tests for the finished products.
- Initiating new product design and tests.
- Researching on clay products / raw material and coming up with new product design and tests.
- Direct technicians and other workers in testing and analyzing components and the physical properties or materials. .
- Assesses market competition by comparing the products. To ensure that data is properly recorded, processes and entered in the daily report.
- Work in accordance with Uganda Clay’s Quality and Safety procedures at all times.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering or Ceramics.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing company.
- Must have thorough knowledge of clay products.
- Strong MS Office proficiency is a MUST.
