Background: MU-JHU Care Ltd (MUJHU) is a registered Ugandan non-governmental organization dedicated to providing services and conducting research on HIB/AIDS care and prevention related to mother-to child transmission HIV. MUJHU is implementing a US National Institute of Health (NIH)- funded study entitled "Using Enhanced Peer group Strategies to Support Prevention of Mother to Child HIV Transmission (PMTCI) Option B+ in Uganda‘ in Kampala and Mityana districts.
MUJHU is seeking two (2) qualified, self-motivated and competent in individuals to fill the position of:
Job Title: Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Assistant
Reports To:
Site Study Coordinator and SLP consultant.
Duty Station: MUJHU offices, Miilago-Kawempe hospital, KCCA Health Centers of Kawaala and Kisenyi with field visits to the communities within Kampala and Wakiso districts.
Description and purpose of the Job: The successful candidate(s) will help in grouping participants, support in the selection of group I A's activity implementation, follow up and monitoring at IGAs/ LPs within Friends for life circles (FLC) groups.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the process of grouping participants In friends for life Circles groups
- Foster team worn among FLC group members and handle group dynamics.
- Generate activity work plans tor FLC groups.
- Mobilize and support Friends for Life Circles (FLC) groups to access skills building.
- Participate in organizing and conducting relevant trainings such as bookeeping, marketing for FLC group members.
- Facilitate the writing oi business proposals, group constitutions, develop IGA budgets and make reports for the FLC groups.
- Make field visits to the communities and study.
- Participate in the distribution of IGA inputs! resources and monitor their utilization.
- Monitoring group activities including IGAs for the groups.
- Prepare monthly or periodic performance! activity reports and write stories for teaming purposes.
- Linkage of FLC groups to relevant micro finance institutions, CBOs, NGOs and at the district local government for sustainability.
Minimum Academic Qualifications and experience:
- Bachelors Degree or diploma in any of the following disciplines: Social Sciences, Education, Entrepreneurship, SWSA, Development Studies, Business Administration Community and Adult Education, Community i5sychoIogy, or Guidance and Counseling.
- At least 2 years working experience in mobilizing communities/Outreaches for IGAs.
- Able to ride a motorcycle and in possession oi a valid driving permit.
- Computer skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- The candidate should be innovative and must also be fluent in Luganda.
- Training in HIV and AIDS Counselling.
- Training of Trainers in IGA management
- Hands on experience in implementing and Monitoring IGAs in communities.
- Certificate in project planning and management,
Monthly Gross Pay: Commensurate with the level oi training and expertise.
