ActionAid’s mission is to work with the poor and the excluded people in the world to eradicate poverty by overcoming the injustices and the inequity that cause it, Support Uganda’s Response to Gender Equality (SURGE) is a four-year Programme funded by UKAID- DFID, with the overall aim of strengthening efforts towards achieving equal access for women and men to opportunities and a life free from violence and, ultimately gender equality. The Programme intends to achieve this through improving public awareness and progressive change in social norms away from gender inequality and gender based violence; implementation of SASA; increasing access to safe spaces/ shelter, legal, health, psychosocial services and economic opportunities for Gender Based Violence (GBV) survivors in 13 districts (Gulu, Lira, Moroto, Masaka, Mbarara, Kampala, Kween, Kumi, Katakwi, Amuru, Pallisa, Nebbi and Mubende). ActionAid Uganda will manage and coordinate the Programme which is being implemented by AAU, CEDIVIP and Therefore, Ac1:ionAid Uganda seeks to recruit a suitably qualified, self-driven, result-oriented and competent person to fill the position of; Technical Coordinator — SURGE Program.
Title: Technical Coordinator-SURGE Program
Reports to : Program Development Manager with matrix reporting to Women Rights Coordinator

Duration : 2 Years
For Role: To provide strategic and technical leadership in implementation-including advocacy and policy influencing; Monitoring and Evaluation of the Gender Prevention and Response program with oversight of three implementing partner organizations (Action Aid, CEDOVIP and MIFUMT)
Key Result Areas:
- Lead in the planning and implementation of the SURGE Program.
- Coordinate the Monitoring, evaluation and communication of results in line with the SURGE Program Framework.
- Guide IPs and other stakeholders in sustainability planning and institutionalizing of GBV prevention and management in line with the National GBV policy and plan,
- Undertake periodic analysis and research for Policy advocacy and engagement at local, national, sub-regional and international levels.
- Coordinate the documentation, generation and Knowledge management sharing and learning in line with the SURGE and AAU Communication strategy
- Team motivation and performance in line with the AAU Human Resource Policy
Person Specifications:
Qualifications:
- A Master’s Degree in Gender/Women Studies, Development studies, humanities or any other related discipline.
- A relevant post graduate qualification and training in human rights, gender and governance is added advantage.
- Experience in GBV prevention and response is a key requirement.
- Training in other GBV approaches and methodologies will be added advantage.
4-6 years of relevant working experience in GBV prevention and response work with at least 3 years in management/ leadership position.

- Extensive knowledge in GBV management (Prevention and response).
- Program development and design skills.
- Financial management and delivering value for money.
- Partnership/ Consortium management.
- Monitoring and evaluation skills.
- Policy analysis, campaign and advocacy skills.
- People management.
