Post: Customs Specialist
Location: Kampala, Uganda. Mobilized to Albert Lake, construction sites or other cities if required.
Primary function:
To coordinate customs activities through supervision and monitoring performance of customs agent through strict adherence to Company logistics strategy, KPIs and general Compliancy to customs regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise Freight forwarders and Customs agents.
- Review all shipping documents and customs declarations/entries.
- Monitoring and evaluating work performance of customs agents; establishing or recommending performance standards as per the KPIs.
- Liaise for pre-shipment inspection, QC receiving events capacities to complete SCM cycles.
- Review all set of documents to ensure that document are correct and consistent to shipping instructions to avoid any clearance delays.
- Update daily tracking reports and ensure timely and accurate data capturing as well as setting up priorities.
- Alert the end user departments in case of any discrepancies, errors and or omissions on a shipment status.
- Take part in the management of the supply chain and ensure all materials and equipment are delivered in time and good condition.
- Advise and inform the company of any new legislation in regards to customs and freight forwarding
- Verify HS code and tax assessments to ensure general compliancy to the customs regulations
- Help agents in interpretation of customs laws relating to Oil and Gas.
- Take part in the implementation of Logistic strategy of CNOOC Uganda Limited.
- Review all entries made in Asycuda world system
- Liaise with Partners coordinate the customs issues and keep alignment with Partners.
- Other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Supervisor
- Bachelor‘s degree or above in a business management, mechanical engineering or related.
- 5 years and above related working experience.
- Professional course CIPS or CILT.
- Certificate in the East African Customs Freight Forwarding Practicing Certificate (EACFPC)
- Knowledge of SGT regime and AEO Status
- Knowledge of EACMA 2004 and amendments
- Understanding of oil & gas E&P.
